Ask what the document covers
Front or rear, which modes, which market. A certificate that covers one mode or one position does not cover the range.
Ask who reviews it

Ask for it in writing
If a supplier cannot put the model status in writing, treat the claim as unsupported until they can.

No. StVZO is documented per model. Two models in the range currently carry a published declaration; for every other lighting model we confirm the current status on request rather than describing the category.
Can you claim StVZO approval as a company?
No, and we do not. Approval is a product-level matter. A supplier-level statement does not transfer to the model you buy.
How do buyers search for "German approved bicycle lights"?
German-market buyers usually search for StVZO or by the German term for road-legal lighting. Whichever wording you use in a listing, the claim still has to match a document for that exact SKU.
Do you provide the certificate with a quotation?
Where a document has been reviewed for a model in a German-market quotation, it is provided for your compliance team to verify before you commit volume.
Does OEM branding affect the approval?
The product does not become documented by being branded. Artwork and listing copy are checked against the reviewed document for that model before release.
What if a model has no document?
Then it is not presented as a German-market product. It can still be offered for markets where the requirement does not apply, with the position stated instead of implied.
