E-TPU Saddles

E-TPU Bike Saddles: Bead-Foam Cushioning for Sport and Comfort Platforms

An E-TPU saddle uses expanded thermoplastic polyurethane — a bead foam — as the cushioning layer, instead of the foam or gel build used in a conventional saddle.

Built for bicycle brands and importers choosing a saddle platform by material, and private-label buyers who need the cover, shell and rail specification confirmed in writing before artwork is commissioned.

Sourcing & programme support

How Ridingoutdoor works in this area

Ridingoutdoor supplies E-TPU saddles for wholesale, OEM and private-label programmes, alongside 3D printed, AirTag-ready and comfort-performance saddle platforms.

Ridingoutdoor is a sourcing and OEM execution partner, not a factory: saddle platforms are produced with selected manufacturing partners and every specification is confirmed at model level.

The material

What E-TPU actually is, and why it is specified

Expanded thermoplastic polyurethane

E-TPU is a bead foam: the cushioning layer is built from expanded beads rather than one poured block. That is the material distinction a saddle platform is chosen on.

Cover and padding together

In the models below, both the cover and the padding are specified as E-TPU. A saddle with only one of the two is a different build, so the specification should be read per layer.

Shell and rails carry the load

The E-TPU layers sit on a nylon shell, and the rail material decides the intended riding segment — CrMo on the sport platform, steel on the wide comfort platform.

What we do not publish

We do not publish compression, durability or comfort test figures for these models, because the supplier has not confirmed them. Performance claims stay unstated rather than estimated.

Platforms

Two E-TPU platforms in the current range

Sport platform — BSF5013

An E-TPU cover and E-TPU padding on a nylon shell with CrMo rails. 253 × 155 mm at 207 g, positioned for road, gravel and sport bicycle programmes.

Wide comfort platform — BSF5089D

An E-TPU cover and E-TPU padding with a centre cut-out, on a nylon shell with steel rails. 265 × 235 mm at 482 g, positioned for city bike, e-bike, rental and trekking programmes.

Why two platforms, not one

The same cushioning material serves a narrow sport saddle and a wide comfort saddle, but the shell, rail and dimensions are different products. Range planning should treat them as two entries.

Material is the differentiator, not the tier

Both models exist so that a brand can offer E-TPU cushioning at two positions in the range rather than as a single flagship.

If the requirement is a different material platform rather than E-TPU: AirTag-ready comfort saddles carry a hidden tracker compartment in the base, and the 3D printed platforms 3D-K14 and 3D-K66 use a lattice structure on a carbon base and carbon rails. The Saddles category lists all four platforms together.

Who this is for

Who buys an E-TPU saddle platform

Bicycle brands

Brands that want a material story in the saddle line and need the cover, shell and rail specification documented before a range decision.

Importers and distributors

Distributors building a saddle ladder across price positions, where a sport and a wide comfort platform can cover two shelf positions from the same material.

Private-label buyers

Buyers who need to match artwork and manual wording to a material claim that the specification actually supports.

E-bike, rental and fleet programmes

The wide comfort platform is positioned for city, e-bike, rental and trekking use, where platform width and rail material matter more than weight.

FAQ

E-TPU bike saddles — common buyer questions

What does E-TPU stand for?

Expanded thermoplastic polyurethane — a bead foam used as a cushioning layer. In the two models here, both the cover and the padding are specified as E-TPU.

Is an E-TPU saddle lighter than a foam saddle?

Weight depends on the platform, not on the material name. These two models sit at 207 g and 482 g because one is a narrow sport saddle and the other a wide comfort saddle.

Do you have E-TPU test data?

We do not publish compression or durability figures for these models, because the supplier has not confirmed them. Specifications are limited to what has been confirmed.

Can the shell or rail material be changed?

Shell and rail are part of the confirmed specification of each model. Changes are treated as a project-level feasibility question, confirmed with the manufacturing partner before sampling.

Can we brand the saddle for our own programme?

Yes — logo, packaging, manual and colour customisation are available subject to project confirmation.

Is Ridingoutdoor a saddle factory?

No. Ridingoutdoor is a sourcing, OEM and private-label execution partner working with selected manufacturing partners.
