Sampling is the step where a sourcing programme becomes a real product decision. This page explains how Ridingoutdoor handles standard samples, customised samples, courier arrangement, approval and the move from sample sign-off to bulk order — without publishing figures that have not been confirmed for your specific project.
Sampling is where specification risk is removed
Specification sheets tell you what a product should be. A sample tells you what it is. For bicycle accessories — where valve fit, beam pattern, saddle width, battery behaviour and packaging quality all affect the end customer — the sample stage is where most programme problems are either found early or stored up for later.
Ridingoutdoor runs sampling as a defined project step, not as an afterthought. Every sample is tied to a named SKU, a confirmed specification and a documented approval, so that the bulk order can be referenced back to something both sides have physically seen.
Standard samples and customised samples

Whether a customised sample is required depends on the project. For a first programme we usually recommend evaluating the standard sample first, then commissioning the customised sample once the base model is confirmed.
The sampling process
1. Requirement and specification review
We confirm the model, the specification that applies to it, your destination market and the changes you need. Where a specification has not been confirmed by the manufacturing partner, we say so at this stage rather than after you have paid for a sample.
2. Sample preparation
Standard samples are prepared from current specification. Customised samples additionally require artwork, logo placement, colour reference and packaging files from you before preparation starts.
3. Sample confirmation
You receive the sample for evaluation. Any deviation from the agreed specification should be reported at this point so it can be corrected before tooling, artwork or production scheduling moves forward.
4. Courier and freight arrangement
Courier arrangement is handled as part of the project. Which courier, which account and which Incoterm apply is confirmed with you rather than assumed, because the right answer depends on your country and import setup.
5. Approval
Once the sample meets the agreed specification, it is approved in writing and used as the reference for the bulk order.
6. Bulk-order confirmation
After approval, quantity, customisation scope, documentation requirements and delivery schedule are confirmed together before the bulk order is placed.
Samples that carry your brand
Logo, packaging, manual and colour customisation are available subject to project confirmation on each model. A customised sample lets you check what your brand will actually look like on the product and on the shelf — logo placement, print quality, colour match, packaging fit and manual language — before committing to volume.

Fees, timing and commercial terms
Sample fees, preparation timing, freight handling and how any sample charge is treated against a subsequent bulk order depend on the model, the customisation scope, your market and the order size. Because those variables change the answer, we confirm them per project rather than publish a number that would not apply to your case.
What we can say up front: we will tell you the sample route, what is needed from you, and what will be confirmed in writing before anything is produced.
Sample questions buyers ask
Can I request a sample before a volume order?
Yes. Sampling is a normal part of the programme and is arranged after the specification has been confirmed for the model.
Can the sample carry our logo and packaging?
Yes, subject to project confirmation on the model. You supply artwork and colour references; we confirm placement and produce the customised sample for approval.
How is the courier handled?

What happens after the sample is approved?
