Product Sourcing & Quality Process
This page describes the steps Ridingoutdoor actually runs on a cycling accessories programme, from the first requirement conversation to export coordination. It describes process, not promises: where a check, a document or a figure has to be agreed per programme, we say so instead of publishing a standard we do not apply to every order.
Seven steps, in order
1. Requirement review
We establish the category, the market you sell into, the positioning you need, target quantity, customisation expectations and any documentation your market requires. This step decides which models are even candidates, so it is worth being specific here.
2. Supplier and model selection
Models are proposed from manufacturing partners that already produce that product family. Selection is based on category fit, specification capability, customisation capability and documentation willingness — not on a single quote across unrelated categories.
3. Specification confirmation
Each candidate model is confirmed in writing: materials, dimensions, output or pressure class, battery architecture where applicable, valve or thread standards, water-resistance rating where stated, and net weight. Anything the partner has not confirmed is marked as not confirmed rather than filled in.
4. Sample approval
Standard and, where required, customised samples are produced and approved in writing. The approved sample becomes the reference for production. Full detail is on the Sample Policy page.
5. OEM artwork and packaging confirmation
Logo placement, product colour, packaging artwork and manual language are confirmed against the physical sample before production starts. This is the last point at which changes are inexpensive.
6. Production follow-up
Order progress is tracked with the manufacturing partner against the approved specification and the approved sample, so that deviations are visible while the order is still in production.
7. Quality checks and export coordination
The checks applied are the ones agreed for your programme, recorded against the approved sample. Shipment documentation is then coordinated for your destination market.
What we mean by agreed checks
We do not publish a single inspection standard and claim it applies to every order, because that is not how it works in practice. What we do is agree, per programme, which checks are applied, when they happen and what happens if a result falls outside the agreed reference.
- Approved reference. Checks are made against the approved sample and the confirmed written specification, not against a generic description.
- Agreed timing. Whether a check happens during production, before shipment, or both is agreed before the order is placed.
- Agreed scope. Which attributes are checked — function, appearance, dimensions, packaging, marking, documentation — is agreed per programme.
- Agreed outcome. What happens on a failed result is agreed in advance, so the decision is not improvised.
We do not publish sampling levels, acceptance numbers or inspection percentages, because these are agreed per programme and depend on product type, order size and your own requirements.
Documents follow the same model-by-model rule
Documentation and certification availability varies by model and destination market and should be confirmed for each project. We do not extend one model's certificate to a whole category, and we do not publish a claim that has not been verified against the specific SKU.

Process questions
How long does a programme take?
It depends on the model, the customisation scope and whether tooling or new artwork is required. Timing is confirmed for your specific project rather than published as a generic number.
Do you apply a fixed inspection standard?
No. The checks applied are the ones agreed for your programme, made against the approved sample and the confirmed specification.
Can we use our own inspector?
Yes. Third-party inspection can be coordinated where your programme requires it.
Who owns the tooling or artwork?
Artwork you supply remains yours. Tooling arrangements, where a programme requires tooling, are confirmed in the project terms.
What happens if production deviates from the sample?
Because the approved sample and written specification are the reference, a deviation is identified during production follow-up and remediated before shipment where possible.
